FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks picked up a big victory over the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Friday, Jan. 31. The win ties the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup at 2-2 and moves the Nanooks to 8-11-5 on the year.

How it Happened
Alaska Anchorage picked up the first goal of the night on the power play, making it 1-0 13:16 into the first period. Ryan Johnson tallied the lone Seawolf goal. The Nanooks needed only 3:01 to find the equalizer. Matt Koethe battled for the puck out front of the net and through the bodies lying around the crease, found the back of the net. Noah Barlage and Luke LaMaster picked up the assists on the game-tying goal.

32 seconds later, the Nanooks had their game-winner. Nathan Rickey, the rookie defenseman, found the back of the net from the blue line, putting a shot past Tyler Krivtsov. This was Rickey's first career goal with the Nanooks and his first game-winner. Peyton Platter picked up the primary assist and Kyle Gaffney added the secondary as the Nanooks took a 2-1 lead into the second period. In the second, Matt Hubbarde extended his goal-scoring streak to five games only 1:27 into the middle stanza. Caelum Dick earned the primary and Platter picked up his second assist of the night. The 3-1 lead stood for the rest of the second and Alaska closed the door in the third, picking up the 3-1 win.
