Nanooks Welcome Air Force for Top 10 Matchup in Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks rifle team will host the Air Force Falcons on Saturday, Jan. 25, and Sunday, Jan. 26. These home matches will be the final home PRC matchups for the Nanooks this season.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks completed a weekend sweep of three teams last weekend at TVSA. Alaska welcomed Akron, Army, and Ole Miss for a four-team match on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Nanooks claimed the win over all three teams, knocking off Akron (4727-4713), Army (4727-4689), and Ole Miss (4727-4725) to move to 8-1, 4-1 PRC on the year. The win over Ole Miss was the Nanooks' first PRC win over the Rebels since they joined the PRC before the start of the 2024-25 season. Sára Karasová led the Nanooks with a second-place finish in the individual standings after shooting an aggregate score of 1185. Amanda Pettersen took third (1181), Elli Spencer took fourth (1181), and Rachael Charles took fifth (1179).

  • Lucie Kissenberger fired a career-high air rifle score of 599 last weekend in the Alaska victory. She started the season with a pair of 598s before breaking that PR last Saturday.
  • Teagan Perkowski also fired a new career-high in air rifle, posting a 597. His previous PR came on Nov. 21 at The Citadel (594).
  • Tobias Bernhoft-Osa fired a season-high 1174 aggregate score with a 581 showing in smallbore and 593 in air rifle. 
  • Elli Spencer's 587 in smallbore was a new season-high for the sophomore.
  • Matthew Stout's 596 in air rifle was a new career-high in the discipline. He also matched his career-high aggregate score of 1173.

Top 10 Average
Sára Karasová is the lone Nanooks shooter in the top 10 for aggregate averages this season. The senior is firing an average score of 1184.4 through five match appearances this season. Her 1185 aggregate last weekend ties her season-high. She has shot it three times now (Jan. 18/Nov. 22/Oct. 11).

Air Leaders
Amanda Pettersen leads the Nanooks in air rifle average this season. The freshman is averaging a 596.143 in the discipline. She is followed by Lucie Kissenberger and Elli Spencer who are both averaging a 596 this season. 

Smallbore Leaders
Cecelia Ossi and Karasová are both in the top 10 in the nation for smallbore averages this season. Karasová is eighth in NCAA Rifle with a 589 average. Ossi follows in 10th with an average of 588.571.

What's to Come
Following this weekend's matchup with Air Force, the Nanooks will welcome Kentucky for Senior Weekend on Jan. 31-Feb. 1. After the Wildcats come to the 49th State, the Nanooks will head to Columbus, Ohio for a matchup with Ohio State on Feb. 6 in preparation for the PRC Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind. on February. 7-8. Alaska will then shoot their NCAA Qualifier at UTEP on Feb. 22 before heading to the NCAA Championships on March 14-15 in Lexington, Ken.
