Karli Nielson Named GNAC Offensive Player of the Week for Volleyball

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, with Alaska's Karli Nielson garnering GNAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Nielson, who became a two-time GNAC Player of the Week winner, helped the Nanooks to a 4-0 weekend trip to California, earning victories vs. Cal. State Dominguez Hills, Colorado Christian, CUI and Azusa Pacific.

Nielson notched a GNAC-leading 64 kills over her four matches last weekend, averaging 3.76 kills per set and hitting .259. She posted double-digit kills in each contest, slamming a season-high 21 put-downs in Alaska's five-set victory over Azusa Pacific. She registered 14 digs vs. APU, recording her first double-double of 2024. The outside hitter also notched six aces and five block assists for the Nanooks.

"Karli had a great weekend of play and was able to score points in lots of different ways for us," said Head Coach Brian Scott on Nielson's performance. "In addition to her great hitting, Karli gave us some great serves and had several crucial blocks at key moments over the weekend."
