Alaska Volleyball Set for Four Matches in California

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team continues their road trip this weekend when they travel to the Golden State for four contests at the Golden Eagle Classic in Irvine, Calif. They will take on California State Dominguez Hills, Colorado Christian, Concordia Irvine and hosting Concordia Irvine.

The Nanooks hit the floor after their trip to Hawaii for the Hawaii-Alaska Challenge. They began their trip by falling to No. 12 Chaminade in four sets. Alaska dropped a hard-fought contest against Hawaii Hilo during its second match of the invitational, losing in five sets to the Vulcans. The Nanooks wrapped up their trip to Honolulu with a three-set victory over Hawaii Pacific.

Karli Nielson paced the squad with 38 kills, while Rilee White followed closely behind with six. White led the team in kills during Alaska's matches against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific, posting totals of 13 and 12, respectively, while posting a team-best .315 hitting percentage among players with at least five total attempts. She recorded a .440 hitting percentage in Alaska's match against HPU, her highest mark in a single contest since she hit .471 vs. Lubbock Christian.
