FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams hosted the Blue/Gold Meet on Saturday, Sept. 14, welcoming their in-state rivals from Alaska Anchorage. The women's team grabbed their second-consecutive win over the Seawolves with a 19-37 win and the men's team fell 38-20.
How it Happened
Alaska took one-two-three in the women's 6k with
Rosie Fordham and
Kendall Kramer pacing the lead by over a minute. Fordham took the win with a time of 21:59 while Kramer followed behind by one second with a finishing time of 22:00.
Katharine Brigham rounded out the top-three finishes for the 'Nooks with a 23:21. Ryann Smith was the top-finishing UAA racer, taking fourth with a time of 23:36.
Lucca Duke picked up a top-five finish finish (23:47). Lilli Lindner (23:51) and Avery Williamson (23:54) finished sixth and seventh before the final scoring Nanooks racer,
Tabitha Williams, crossed the line in 23:59.
Mallory McCarter (24:38) and Makendra McCarty (24:47) rounded out the UAA scoring.
In the men's race, Zachary Grams won the 8k for UAA with a time of 25:46. John Peckham of UAA followed in second with a finishing time of 25:47, trailing his teammate by one second.
Ben Dohlby led the way for the Nanooks, taking third with a time of 26:06. Ty Elliot of UAA followed in fourth and
Derk Lyford rounded out the top-five with a time of 26:17 for the Nanooks. Benjamin Browning of the Nanooks took eighth with a 26:43 and
Finn Morley was the final top-10 finisher for Alaska, racing in 27:08.
Blake Hanley was the final scorer for the Nanooks, taking 12th with a time of 27:34.
