Alaska Cracks Triple-Digits in Friday Evening Victory Over Northwest Indian College

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks picked up their third straight win after cracking the century mark against Northwest Indian College. Alaska would move to 3-3, 0-0 GNAC on the season after the 104-68 victory.

How it Happened
Chris Lee started the evening with a layup 14 seconds into the ballgame. After finding themselves trailing 5-4, the Nanooks posted a 6-0 run, capped off by two straight Chris Lee fastbreak buckets to put them up 10-5. Alaska logged a 10-0 run later in the half, with three-pointers from Lee and Ketan Sidhu helping put the 'Nooks in front 20-8 at the 12:29 mark. NWIC would cut the lead to single digits at 25-17 following an and-one conversion by Mycole Rodriguez. However, a Sidhu layup just past the halfway point of the opening period put Alaska up by 10, and the Nanooks held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest. The Blue and Gold would score 18 of their final 26 points of the half via the three-ball, with Griffin Effenberger, Ketan Sidhu, Jackson Krug, Cortarius Mingo and Shiloh Zevenbergen all chipping in with conversions from behind the arc. Alaska held a 55-37 lead over NWIC going into the halftime break.

Isaiah Saams-Hoy posted Alaska's first four points out of the break, including sinking a shot from the line to convert a three-point play and put the Nanooks up 59-39. They would regain the 20-point lead after another and-one conversion, this time from Chris Lee to put Alaska ahead 66-45 at the 16:12 mark. A 4-0 Eagles run brought the lead down to 17; however, the 'Nooks answered with a 13-0 run, highlighted by two Saams-Hoy three-pointers and a three-point play from Jalai O'Keith to give Alaska a 79-49 advantage with 12:29 remaining. The Nanooks had one more run in the game, this time getting it done primarily in the paint en route to 11 unanswered points. Zevenbergen had two fastbreak layups during the run, and Effenberger capped it off with his fourth three-pointer of the evening, putting the Nanooks ahead 90-52 with eight minutes left to play. Zevenbergen and Jeremiah Hersrud would connect from beyond the arc in the final portion of the contest, while a Sidhu layup gave the Nanooks triple digits on the scoreboard.
