Nanooks Volleyball Adds Ruby Tansy to Signing Class

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team has announced another signing for its 2025 season in Ruby Tansy. Tansy, a 5-11 outside hitter, is a Fairbanks native out of Lathrop High School.

"We are so excited Ruby chose to stay in Fairbanks and join Nanook Nation," said head coach Brian Scott. "She is a special athlete who has developed quickly over the past few years. We can't wait to see what barriers she will break at UAF. Her motivation to improve and grow is one of her greatest strengths. She is a great teammate who lifts the whole team to play at a higher level. It was an easy decision to ask Ruby to join our program."

Tansy garnered All-Mid Alaska Conference honors in volleyball in 2023 and 2024 and was named Lathrop MVP in 2023. In addition to volleyball, she participated in gymnastics and ran track; in gymnastics, she was an Xcel Diamond Gymnastics state champion and regional runner-up in 2023. In track and field, Tansy broke the school record in the 4x400 relay and earned state runner-up in 2022. She followed that up with another state runner-up in the high jump in 2023.

Academically, Tansy has been an Honor Roll recipient her freshman through senior years. She was also a UA Scholar, CTE Presidential Scholar and Scholar Athlete.

She is the daughter of Kristine and Douglas Tansy and has five siblings; Emma, Jake, Max, Matthew and Victoria. She intends to study Engineering at UAF.
