PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its Academic All-Conference selections for volleyball, with eight Nanooks named to the All-Academic team.
To qualify for academic all-conference, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, be in at least their second season competing for their team and have competed on the court during the 2024 campaign. A total of 63 student-athletes received the honor.
Headlining the list for Alaska was senior pin-hitter Rilee White, the lone fourth-year recipient to hold a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was one of nine student-athletes with perfect GPAs. The biological sciences major was one of 12 four-time All-Academic members named to the team this year. Joining her on the list were a pair of three-time Academic All-Conference members in senior libero Kinley Erickson and senior outside hitter Karli Nielson. Erickson maintained a 3.90 GPA in communication, while Nielson posted a 3.82 GPA in her criminal justice studies.
Junior right-side hitter Elena Guc collected the accolade for the second time and joined White with a 4.0 GPA while studying homeland security & emergency management. Redshirt junior Ainsley Smith also took home the honor for the second time, as the setter posted a 3.79 grade point average while studying biological sciences. The final two-time recipient for the Nanooks was senior middle blocker Elizabeth Jackson, who earned a 3.49 GPA in psychology.
Rounding out the list of Nanooks to earn Academic All-Conference honors were first-time recipients Josie Jansen and Cynphany Henderson. Jansen, a senior middle blocker, posted a 3.20 GPA while studying psychology, and Henderson, a redshirt sophomore setter, maintained a 3.66 GPA.
The Nanooks return home this week, hosting Montana State Billings on October 31 at 7 p.m.
