Kramer Wins Third Straight GNAC Title as Women Finish Second, Men Take Seventh in GNAC Championships

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Alaska Nanooks cross country running teams traveled to Bellingham, Wash., for the GNAC Championships this morning. The men started the day by taking seventh in the 8k race, with Ben Dohlby leading the way for the Nanooks as their top finisher at 25:45.30. The women followed at 10 a.m. with a 6k race, where Kendall Kramer and Rosie Fordham secured the 1-2 finish for Alaska, helping the Nanooks take second as a team with 74 points. This marks the Nanook's best-ever finish at the GNAC championships, beating their third-place finish from last season when they finished with 86 points.

With the win, Kramer secured the individual cross country title for the third successive year, earning GNAC women's cross country Athlete of the Year. She becomes the second woman in GNAC history to win three individual cross country titles, joining Seattle Pacific's Jessica Pixler as three-time GNAC women's cross country individual champions.

Kramer posted a time of 20:32.30 to run away with the race. Her finishing time marks the third-fastest time ever recorded by a GNAC champion. Joining her at the front of the field was her teammate, Fordham, who's time of 20:54.30 completed the 1-2 finish for the Nanooks, their third of the season. Katharine Brigham followed for the Nanooks, as her 22:26.40 put her in 17th place. Tabitha Williams placed 22nd, finishing with a time of 22:34.00, while Teegan Silva completed Alaska's top-five finishers on the women's side, posting a 23:13.70 to finish in 35th. The Nanooks finished with an average time of 21:56.14, which gave them second place behind Western Washington.

The men finished with 196 points, giving them seventh place with an average time of 26:13.22. Dohlby was the first Nanook to cross the finish line in 31st place, while Ben Browning followed in four spots behind him at 25:49.20. Derk Lyford finished with a 26:26.20 to put him 49th, and Koen Ross's time of 26:29.10 put him two spots behind Lyford.
