ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's cross country teams will be hosted by Lewis University this Saturday, where they will race at the Lewis Crossover in Illinois. The women will race in the Championship race at 7:30 a.m AKST while the men will follow after in the Open race at 9:00 a.m AKST.
Two, Three and Four in the Six(K)
The Nanook women came out strong in their debut at the Bill Roe Classic hosted by Western Washington University two weeks ago. Seniors Kendall Kramer and Rosie Fordham paved the way for the 'Nooks, placing second and fourth respectively, with race times of 20:31.9 and 20:45.9. These low-point scoring times led the 'Nooks to a third-place finish as a team and earned them a national ranking of 19th in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches Poll.
Make Way for the Bens
The Nanook men finished sixth out of the ten teams in the 8k, where freshman Ben Browning led 'Nooks, crossing the line at 25:16.9. Ben Dohlby followed soon after Browning with a time of 26:13.1, earning the team just 35 points of the team's 175.
Athlete Spotlights
Kendall Kramer goes into the weekend with yet another accolade to her name after being named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Runner of the Week following her finish at Bill Roe. This is her second time receiving this accolade this season after she earned the first by winning the Seawolf Throwdown in Anchorage.
Ben Browning continues to prove himself as a lead runner for the Nanooks, finishing first for the team in two of the three previous races this season. He saw great success at the Bill Roe Classic where he marked a new college career best, running 48.7 seconds faster in the 8k.
