SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Nanooks fell in the quad meet at San Diego State on Monday, Jan. 8. They fell to SDSU 157.5-82.5, Fresno State 213-45 and Loyola Marymount 181-76.
The 200-yard medley relay kicked off the event and the Nanooks relay team made up of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Dorka Dancsok,
Adeline Berry and
Lainey Lioi posted a finishing time of 1:52.81, good for a seventh-place finish. The second event was the 1000-yard freestyle. Four Nanooks raced and
Tori Shoemaker led the way with an eighth-place finish and time of 11:12.97.
Payton Wojciechowicz was the next Nanook in line, taking 10th with a time of 11:27.13.
Meah McCallum and
Kylee Carter were the final two Alaska racers, taking 13th and 14th, respectively. McCallum posted a time of 12:14.60 and Carter finished in 13:03.72.
Shannon McCallum and
Mesa Moran were the next Nanooks in the pool, competing in the 200-yard freestyle. McCallum took 12th with a time of 2:09.57 and Moran followed in 13th with a time of 2:11.69.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Fletcher-Stables tied with Alex Roberts of SDSU for a third-place finish as the two racers posted times of 58.97, trailing second by less than one second. Her finish in the 100 back was the best by a Nanooks swimmer today. The next event was the 100-yard breaststroke.
Naomi Burgan was the lone-Nanook to race and took 11th with a time of 1:15.93. The 200-yard butterfly featured three Nanooks;
Adeline Berry,
Mesa Moran and
Kaidence Sampsel. They took 12th, 13th and 14th with times of 2:29.19 (Berry), 2:32.31 (Moran) and 2:39.47 (Sampsel). In the 50-yard free
Lainey Lioi represented the Nanooks and took 12th with a time of 26.72. Four 'Nooks were in the pool for the 100-yard freestyle; Lioi led the group with a 12th-place finish and time of 58.81.
Adeline Berry followed in 13th with a 59.78 and
Payton Wojciechowicz took 14th with a 1:00.22. The final Nanooks racer was Sampsel who took 16th and a time of 1:03.25. Fletcher-Stables returned to the top-five with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:09.07.
In the 200-yard breaststroke,
Dorka Dancsok took seventh to lead the way for Alaska. She finished in 2:29.89.
Naomi Burgan followed in 11th with a time of 2:43.14. In the 500-yard freestyle
Tori Shoemaker just missed cracking the top-five, taking sixth with a time of 5:29.59. Burgan followed behind in ninth with a 5:36.77 and Wojciechowicz followed Burgan in 10th with a time of 5:37.03.
Meah McCallum was the final Nanooks swimmer, taking 12th with a time of 6:13.90. With three events remaining,
Adeline Berry led a trio of Nanooks into the 100-yard butterfly. She took eighth with a time of 1:04.33 while
Mesa Moran and
Kaidence Sampsel followed in ninth and 10th. Moran finished in 1:08.57 while Sampsel posted a time of 1:15.64.Â
The final individual event of the day was the 200-yard IM and Dancsok finished with a sixth-place race and time of 2:16.50.
Shannon McCallum followed in 10th with a time of 2:30.02.Â
To end the day, the teams met in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Alaska took fourth-place as a team of
Lainey Lioi,
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Naomi Burgan and
Dorka Dancsok posted a time of 3:46.75.
The Nanooks and Aztecs meet in a dual meet tomorrow morning.
