Nanooks Nordic Ski Adds Ben Dohlby for Upcoming Season

FAIRBANKS - Ben Dohlby has become the newest 2023-24 signee for the Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team. Dohlby is set to join the 'Nooks from Pewaukee, Wis.

"Ben is another athlete we were able to watch in action at the 2023 Junior Nationals in Fairbanks." Said head coach Eliska Albrigtsen, "Racing for the Great Lakes region, he had two top-15 finishes in the U20 category, placing amongst some current RMISA skiers. He is the type of athlete we dream about - he possesses loads of raw talent and a positive attitude. We are so excited to work with him."

Dohlby comes to Fairbanks by way of Pewaukee High School and the Peak Nordic Ski Team. At the 2023 Junior Nationals, Ben earned 15th-place in the U20 men's 7.5k classic and seventh-place in the U20 men's 15k skate. He also earned two trips to the D1 WIAA State Cross Country Championships in 2021 and 2022 at Pewaukee High. In 2021 he took 32nd-place before jumping up to 26th in 2022. Academically, Dohlby was an Honor Roll student in 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Finally, he served as the Peak Nordic Boy's team captain his senior year.

The incoming freshman is the son of Jeff and Shelly Dohlby. His mom, Shelly, ran cross country at North Park University.

Additional signings for the Nordic ski team and other Nanooks teams will be announced throughout the summer.
