Nanooks Hockey Finishes 2022-23 Regular-Season with 22nd Victory of the Year

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks rounded out their 2022-23 regular-season with a huge statement win over Lindenwood. With an 8-0 win on Saturday, March 4, the Nanooks finish the regular-season 22-10-2, the most wins by a Nanooks win since 2001-02.

Simon Falk got the scoring started 9:56 into the first, redirecting a Colin Doyle shot into the net for a 1-0 lead. Doyle earned the primary assist and Connor Mylymok picked up the secondary. Almost 10 minutes later, Markuss Komuls tallied a senior-night goal 19:24.1 into the first, making it a 2-0 lead for the 'Nooks after the opening 20 minutes. Chase Dubois and Anton Rubtsov earned the primary and secondary assists. Alaska killed both Lindenwood power plays in the first period. 

In the second, the Nanooks exploded for four goals, making it 6-0. Brady Risk opened the scoring 3:58 into the second making it 3-0. After playing the puck near the blue-line, Jonny Sorenson put a shot on net; Brady Risk, in the slot, tipped the puck and beat Lindenwood goalie, Roni Salmenkangas, to extend the lead. 12:06 into the second Kyle Gaffney added the fourth goal of the night. Three minutes after, Colin Doyle tallied a goal and Jonny Sorenson connected for the fourth of the period 16:10 into the second and 1:04 after Doyle's. In the third, Brayden Nicholetts scored 9:53 into the third for the seventh goal of the night and Chase Dubois wrapped-up the scoring with the eighth goal 10:55 into the final period. 

Alaska scored eight goals in a single-game for the first time since Oct. 14, 2006 when they beat the Air Force Academy in Fairbanks, 8-4.

Netminder, Matt Radomsky stopped all 19 shots-on-goal by Lindenwood and earned his 22nd win of the season. He played 50:55 before Daniel Allin slotted into net for the final 9:05 of the third period. He stopped both shots he saw and Radomsky earned his third shutout of the season with the result. 16 Nanooks earned a point in tonight's victory and eight record two points. 

All eyes turn to March 19 and the NCAA Ice Hockey Selection Show. The Selection Show airs at 2:30 p.m. AKT and will be on ESPNU. The Nanooks Department of Athletics will have more information on a viewing party.
