FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team has announced the signing of Tabitha Williams of Canmore, Alta.
"Tabby is a young skier who we can see making an instant impact in our team, but she is also a pick for the future." Said head coach Eliska Albrigtsen, "She has built an impressive resume from her time training on the world-class trails in Canmore and, more recently, racing internationally for Great Britain. In addition to skiing, she's also a very strong cross country runner and can add strength and depth to our squad of championship-worthy runners to give us a better chance at qualifying a full team to XC NCAAs for the first time."
Williams' hometown club is Canmore Nordic and she has been with them for 15 years while spending two seasons on their Team Trail Sports Elite team. She has spent the past three seasons with the Alberta ski team and has spent the last season with the British Nordic performance squad.
In 2022, Williams placed third at the U18 Canadian Nationals in Whistler in the 15k skate. At the same location, she took fifth in the 5k skate. At the Canadian Nationals in Whistler, she was the third-overall finisher for 2004 YOB. At the 2022 FIS Lygna Norwegian Cup, she took first in the junior category and fifth-overall in the 7.5k skate. Her FIS run continued at the 2022 FIS Swedish Cup; she took 12th in the 7.5k classic and 13th in the 10k skate. In 2023, Williams placed 21st at the 2023 FIS Whistler Junior World Ski Championships in the 10k skate before she took third in the U20 Canadian Nationals at Thunder Bay in the 1.3 skate sprints.
