Last Time Out
Alaska last competed on Nov. 19 when they hosted Akron and Kentucky for a three-team matchup. The Nanooks grabbed the win over the Wildcats and Zips with a season-high aggregate score of 4745. Kentucky also fired a 4745 but the Nanooks took the x-count over Kentucky for the win. Akron finished the day with a 4716.
Rachael Charles took first individually with an 1190 aggregate score. Sára Karasová took third with a score of 1188,
Marina Gonzalez Mazo took seventh (1180) and
Akihito Shimizu finished ninth with an 1179.

- Rachael Charles leads the Nanooks in average aggregate scoring so far this season. She is shooting an average of 1185.0.
- Charles also leads the Nanooks in smallbore average with a season-average of 589.4. She posted a season-high 591 in smallbore against Akron and Kentucky on Nov. 19. She also posted a season-high air rifle score of 599 in the win.
- Sára Karasová follows behind with an average of 1182.6. She posted a season-high score of 1188 in the Nov. 19 victory behind a season-high 593 in smallbore. Her top air rifle score of the season was a 598 on Oct. 14 against Ohio State.
- Through three matches this season, Katrina Demerle leads the Nanooks in air rifle with an average of 596. She shot only air rifle on Nov. 4-5 at TCU before shooting in both smallbore and air on Nov. 19, ending with a season-high 1176.
- As a team, the Nanooks are averaging the third-best aggregate score this season. They are averaging 4724.2. West Virginia holds the top average with a 4743.0 and TCU follows in second with a 4736.286.
What's to Come
This will round out 2023 for the Nanooks rifle team. They'll open 2024 up on the road at Navy on Jan. 20-21. The first matchup with Navy will be in Annapolis, Md. before the two teams shoot again at Sills Air Range in Centreville, Va. Alaska will wrap-up their PRC regular-season matchups with Ohio State and Air Force on Feb. 1, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio before shooting the PRC Championships on Feb. 3-4. Their NCAA Qualifier with UTEP is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2024 in Fairbanks and will be the Nanooks' final home regular-season match and senior day before the NCAA Championships on March 8-9 at West Virginia.
Scouting the Opponent
Air Force enters this week's averaging 4716.334 as a team. Their shooting 2339.167 in smallbore and 2377.167 in air rifle through their first six matches this season. Their season-high came in their first match of the season on Oct. 7. The Falcons fired an aggregate score of 4725 on a 2345 smallbore score and 2380 in air - both of those are season-highs. They matched that air rifle score on Nov. 5 against Army.
Lauren Hurley is leading the way for Air Force; she holds the top average in all three categories with an average aggregate score of 1181.5, an average smallbore average of 586 and an air rifle average of 595.5.
Maintain the Streak
The Nanooks are riding a seven-game winning streak against the Falcons and have taken 13 of the last 15 head-to-head matchups. The two teams met last season in Colorado and saw the Nanooks defeat the Falcons 4730-4717 on Jan. 21, 2023 and 4738-4714 on Jan. 22, 2023.
