BILLINGS, Mont. - The Nanooks men's basketball team fell to Montana State Billings on Saturday, Dec. 2, 65-39. With the loss, the 'Nooks fall to 2-6, 1-1 GNAC on the season.
The Yellow Jackets of MSUB posted a strong shooting night, going 50.00% from the field on the night. They shot 27-54 from the floor and 10-27 from three. Alaska shot 7-31 (22.58%) in the first. The Yellow Jackets ran out to an early 19-9 lead in the opening 9:31 of play. After making it a double-digit deficit for Alaska, the Nanooks would continue to fight. However, Montana State Billings would extend the lead to 18 at the end of the first half, 33-15.Â
Out of the break, the Yellow Jackets extended the lead to 20 early in the second half. A 5-0 Alaska run off a Trey Anderson three and a Tyriq Luke layup cut the MSUB lead to 18. The Nanooks would not get any closer, eventually falling 65-39. Nick Hopkins led the way with 10 points and two rebounds. He shot 5-10 from the floor and added three assists. Trey Anderson and Jaycson Bereal, Jr added six points each.Â
The 'Nooks continue on the road at the Hawaii-Hilo Invitational on Dec. 17-18 against the University of Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans and San Francisco State Gators.Â
