FORT WORTH – After not shooting since their season-opener against Ohio State, the Nanooks were back in action at TCU this morning. TCU knocked-off the 'Nooks 4731-4710 handing Alaska their first head-to-head loss of the season.Â
Rachael Charles led the 'Nooks, shooting an individual aggregate score of 1184, placing herself in third for the match. TCU secured the following three rankings followed by Akihito Shimizu shooting a score of 1177, and Elijah Spencer with 1174. Sara Karasova rounded out the standings for the Nanooks, placing ninth and shooting 1172.Â
The Nanooks found themselves toe-to-toe with the Frogs when it came to the smallbore discipline, yet came up short 2346-2332. Charles placed third, tying two TCU shooters with a score of 589. Moving up one place from his rank in individual aggregate, Shimizu outshot TCU's Stephanie Allen by two points, securing sixth. Spencer and Karasova ranked 8th and 9th for the discipline, shooting 581 and 579 respectively. Marina Gonzalez Mazo finalized the Nanook team's standings, taking 11th and shooting an individual score of 577. The 'Nooks saw the lesser of defeat in the air rifle discipline, coming up short by just seven points, and finalizing the score of 2378-2385.
In the air rifle discipline, Katrina Demerle led the 'Nooks ranking in fourth, shooting an impressive 596. Following close behind her was Charles, shooting a score of 595. The Frogs secured the following two rankings, just ahead of Shimizu who shot a 594, Spencer who shot a 593 and Karasova who finished shooting a 593 as well. Rounding out the rankings was Mazo, who finished shooting a 584 and placing 12th for the Nanook team. Â
The Nanooks look to bounce back tomorrow, Nov. 19, as they face the Horned Frogs once again before returning home to host Akron and Kentucky for a three-team match at TVSA.
