Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. - The Nanooks men's basketball team battled the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves on Saturday, Nov. 18. Falling on the road 70-44.
Paul Johnson and Abdullahi Mohamed got the Nanooks going early, scoring Alaska's first six points and racing out to a 6-2 lead. An 11-1 run gave the Thunderwolves a quick seven-point lead, 13-6. Alaska would not back away, racing out to a 7-0 run of its own for the 14-13 advantage. After falling behind two and trading baskets, Trey Anderson tied the game with 1:22 remaining in the half. A late half free throw gave CSU-Pueblo the one-point advantage at the half, 22-21.
The second half was all Thunderwolves as they opened the half on a 28-4 run to take a commanding 51-25 lead midway through the half. The lead would balloon to as many as 29, Mohamed and Johnson chipped away at the CSU-Pueblo lead for a final of 70-44.
Paul Johnson and Abdullahi Mohamed were the two Nanooks over five points with 14 and 13 apiece.
The Alaska Men's Basketball team will remain on the road, traveling to California for games against California State University Monterey Bay on Friday, Nov. 24, and Cal State East Bay on Saturday, Nov. 25.
