FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks swim team fell to the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay on Friday, Oct. 27 by a final score of 134-69. 

Both sides swam in 11 events in the Patty Center Pool. The first event of the night was the 400-yard medley relay. East Bay took first with a winning time of 4:01.38, besting the Nanooks by less than half a second. The team of Charlotte Fletcher-Stables, Dorka Dancsok, Adeline Berry and Lainey Lioi grabbed second with a time of 4:01.64. East Bay took third and fourth and the second Nanooks team placed fifth. The second event of the evening was the 1000-yard freestyle. Payton Wojciechowicz was the top-finisher for Alaska, taking third with a time of 11:13.67. Lori Houghton followed in fourth and Meah McCallum took fifth. In the 200-yard freestyle, the Nanooks took fourth, fifth and sixth with Charlotte Fletcher-Stables leading the way in fourth with a time of 2:05.12. Tori Shoemaker took fifth and Mesa Moran took sixth. 

Lainey Lioi cracked the top-three in the fourth event, the 50-yard freestyle, taking third and leading the 'Nooks with a time of 26.15. Adeline Berry took fifth and Sophia Ruppert took sixth. 

Dorka Dancsok continued her winning ways in the 200-yard IM this week, grabbing an event win by nearly nine seconds. She posted a time of 2:07.65 in the event, beating the second-place time of 2:16.26. Naomi Burgan finished fifth for the Nanooks in the 200 IM. Berry led the way for Alaska in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday night, taking fourth with a time of 1:02.73. Following her was Mesa Moran in fifth and Payton Wojciechowicz in sixth. Shannon McCallum and Kaidence Sampsel took fourth and fifth for the Nanooks in the 100-yard freestyle; McCallum led the way with a time of 59.34. Fletcher-Stables finished second in the 100-yard backstroke, being one of two swimmers to crack the sub-minute mark; she swam to a time of 59.17, taking second by only .06 seconds. Lainey Lioi also raced for the Nanooks and finished in fifth-place. 

In the 500-yard freestyle, Naomi Burgan took third with a time of 5:25.53, Tori Shoemaker followed in fifth and Shannon McCallum rounded out the Nanooks with a fifth-place finish. Dancsok grabbed another win on the night in the 100-yard breaststroke - she posted a winning time of 1:07.10. Houghton finished in fifth and Kylee Carter took sixth. In the final event of the night, the Nanooks' 400-yard freestyle relay team grabbed a victory with a time of 3:44.52. The team was made up of Charlotte Fletcher-Stables, Lainey Lioi, Adeline Berry and Dorka Dancsok. 

The Nanooks and Pioneers do battle in the pool one more time tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. There will be a live stream available on the Alaska Nanooks YouTube channel.
