COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Nanooks rifle team grabbed another head-to-head win with a 4730-4717 victory over the Air Force Falcons on Saturday, Jan. 21. With the win, the Nanooks moved to 9-0, 5-0 PRC. Tomorrow's matchup with Air Force concludes their 2022-23 regular-season schedule.
Peter Fiori led the way for the Nanooks in the top-10 individual finishes with a top-spot finish behind his 1183 aggregate score. Four other Nanooks joined him in the top-10 as Sára Karasová took third-place with an 1182. She bested
Rylan Kissell, who also shot an 1182 and took fourth-place.
Kellen McAferty took sixth with an 1181 and
Rachael Charles took seventh in the individual standings with an 1180.
In the smallbore discipline, the Nanooks outshot the Falcons 2347-2336 and were led by Karasová with a 588. She took second in the smallbore standings, trailing Air Force's Morgan Kreb who posted a day one high of 589. McAferty followed in third in smallbore with a score of 587, tying with Charles, who took fourth. Fiori and Kissell rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Nanooks in smallbore with a pair of 585's. Fiori took fifth and Kissell took sixth. Tobias Bernhoft-Osa was the final Nanook, firing a 574.
Alaska beat Air Force in the air rifle discipline with a 2383-2381 advantage. Fiori led the way in air with a 598.
Rylan Kissell followed in second with a 597. Sára Karasová was the final top-five finish for the 'Nooks with a 594.
Kellen McAferty took sixth with a 594, Charles took ninth with a 593 and Bernhoft-Osa took 12
th with a 586.
The Nanooks and Air Force Academy shoot against each other one more time tomorrow morning on Sunday, Jan. 22.
