Last Time Out
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team fell in their final road-game to Simon Fraser on Feb. 19, 2022. This loss dropped the Nanooks to 2-17, 1-13 GNAC.

The Nanooks came ready to battle in the first quarter, staying within five in the opening 10 minutes. Claudia Diez Marti led the way in the first half, scoring 13 points on 4-8 from the field. She also went 4-4 from the free-throw line. Ellen Silva added seven points and three boards at the break. The 'Nooks fell behind by five two and a half minutes into the first. They'd crawl back within two on a pair of Diez Marti free-throws at 12-14. Following a three-point play by Poala Perez-Mendoza, they'd made it a one-point deficit, but SFU extended it back to five at the end of the quarter. A minute into the first, the Nanooks made it a three-point game on a Silva jumper. SFU pushed ahead on a 15-3 run, making their lead 12 at 26-38.

Another SFU run to end the second led to a 21-point deficit for the Nanooks.

Entering the third quarter, the Nanooks saw their deficit grow to 33. SFU outscored Alaska 7-17 in the third quarter. Caitlin Pusich opened the Nanooks scoring in the third, hitting a three-pointer to make it a 20-point SFU lead. Perez-Mendoza hit four-straight free-throws, but that was all the scoring for the Nanooks. In the fourth, Alaska's offense found it's stride, but despite outscoring them 23-17, it was too much of a deficit to erase. Diez Mari scored four-straight following a Perez-Mendoza layup. The Nanooks made it a 22-point deficit with 1:32 remaining on a Savannah Huerta three-pointer, but that was the closest they'd get.

Simon Fraser finished it off by the final of 58-83.

Three Nanooks scored in double-digits tonight, led by Claudia Diez Marti with 19 on 6-14 shooting. She added one three-pointer and 6-6 shooting from the free-throw line. Savannah Huerta added a dozen on 4-6 shooting from deep. Paola Perez-Mendoza was the final 'Nook in double-figures, scoring 11. Emma Wass grabbed 10 boards to lead the Nanooks.
