FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks athletics department posted strong academic results in the semester of Fall 2021. All teams combined for a semester GPA of 3.51. Three teams posted 3.70+ GPA's and 66 Nanooks student-athletes were named to the Deans/Chancellor's List

All 10 Alaska athletic teams posted a 3.0+ GPA in the fall semester, led by the hockey team. Hockey earned a department-high GPA of 3.72. That 3.72 included 14 players on the Dean's List and nine on the Chancellor's List. The rifle team followed, earning a cumulative 3.71 GPA as a team. Seven rifle team member earned scholarly honors with four on Dean's List and three on the Chancellor's List. Women's volleyball was the third team with over a 3.70, posting a 3.70 with three players on Dean's List and seven on the Chancellor's List. 

Women's ski had a cumulative GPA of 3.65 on the trails while the men's ski team posted a 3.50 GPA. The skiers were represented by four student-athletes on the Dean's List and three on the Chancellor's List. The women's cross country team posted a 3.63 while the men earned a 3.59 GPA. There were seven runners on the Dean's List and four on the Chancellor's List. Women's basketball posted a term GPA of 3.60 with three Nanooks making the Dean's List and three on Chancellor's List. The men's basketball team posted a 3.04 GPA; they were represented by two student-athletes on the Dean's List and two on the Chancellor's List.

Finally, women's swim posted a term GPA of 3.08 as they had two swimmers on the Dean's List and three on the Chancellor's List. 

With the cumulative of 3.51 in the department, the Nanooks broke their previous GPA records, both broken last year when they posted a 2020 Fall semester of 3.46 and 2021 Spring of 3.48.
