FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup will live in Fairbanks for at least another year. 

The Nanooks used a third period goal to claim the Cup over the Seawolves in Anchorage on Saturday, Dec. 17. With the 1-0 win, Alaska moves to 9-7-2 and will hit the road until late January when they return to Fairbanks on Jan. 28, 2023 against UAA. 

Game four between Alaska and Alaska Anchorage was quiet in scoring but featured numerous opportunities. Despite remaining scoreless in the opening 40 minutes, it did feature 10 power-play opportunities, six for the Seawolves and four for the Nanooks. UAA had three attempts in the first period but the 'Nooks killed all three and Alaska had their one attempt shut down. UAA posted five shots-on-goal in the first but Matt Radomsky stopped them all. Alaska had all 10 of their shots stopped by Nolan Kent, the UAA netminder. In the second, UAA had three more opportunities on the man-advantage but Radomsky stopped all four shots on the three penalties, keeping the Seawolves off the board. 

Alaska had one power-play opportunity in the second but managed only two shots. Both goalies faced eight shots and stopped all eight in the second period. The scoring finally broke through in the third for the Nanooks when Chase Dubois scored his second goal of the weekend 15:03 into the third. It proved to be the winner as Anton Rubtsov found Payton Matsui before Matsui put the pass across the crease and Dubois tallied the winner. 

Radomsky saved all four shots faced in the third and ended the night with a 17-save shutout; his second-consecutive shutout after shutting out the Seawolves 4-0 a night ago. 

Alaska will head into holiday break before traveling to Notre Dame on Dec. 31, 2022 and Jan. 1, 2023. These two teams will meet one more time on Jan. 27-28, 2023 in a home-and-home with the second game being played in Fairbanks.
