FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks made it three-straight with a 4-0 win over the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Friday, Dec. 16. With the win, the Nanooks move to 8-7-2 on the season and are a win away from claiming their 12th-straight Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup.
It only took 8:38 for the Nanooks to find the back of the net.
Simon Falk struck first giving Alaska a 1-0 lead;
Harrison Israels and
Arvils Bergmanis were awarded assists.
Chase Dubois answered with the second goal of the night 10:13 into the second. He took a pass from Bergmanis and beat UAA netminder Joey Lamoreaux on the one-timer from the right faceoff circle. The goal came while on the first power-play opportunity of the night and the 2-0 score stuck until the third period.
In the third, the Nanooks scored their third goal of the night on a
Jonny Sorenson snipe.
Matt Radomsky found
T.J. Lloyd before finding Sorenson; he entered the zone and found his way to the slot before beating Lamoreaux for his sixth goal of the season. This goal also came on the power play. The Nanooks ended the night two-for-two on the man-advantage. Lloyd ended the scoring on the night with an empty-net tally. After playing the puck in the attacking zone, the blueliner put a shot on that tipped off Carson Kosobud's stick and into the back of the net, making it a 4-0 shutout victory for the Nanooks.
This was the first shutout of the year for the 'Nooks and netminder
Matt Radomsky. Radomsky stopped all 20 shots-on-goal by UAA for his fourth-career shutout.
The Nanooks and Seawolves do battle one final time in 2022 tomorrow, Dec. 17. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:07 p.m. in the Seawolf Sports Complex on the campus of UAA in Anchorage.
