FAIRBANKS – The Nanooks rifle team knocked off the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday, Nov. 12. Alaska took the win 4737-4714 and moved to 5-0, 3-0 PRC in head-to-head matches.Â

Alaska claimed the top-three finishes in the individual standings;
Peter Fiori led all shooters with an aggregate score of 1190.
Kellen McAferty returned to the Nanooks' lineup and took second, posting an aggregate score of 1189.
Rylan Kissell rounded out the top-three finishes for the Nanooks as the sophomore shot an 1184. Sára Karasová took fifth for the Nanooks with an 1179,
Gavin Barnick took seventh with an 1177,
Rachael Charles took ninth with an 1176 and
Marina Gonzalez Mazo took 10
th with an 1176 to round out the top-10 individual finishes for the Nanooks.Â

The Nanooks took care of Nebraska in the smallbore discipline, outshooting the Cornhuskers 2357-2336.
Peter Fiori led the way in smallbore, shooting a 594.
Kellen McAferty followed in second, shooting a 592, the only other athlete to shoot over a 590 on day one.
Rylan Kissell took fourth in smallbore, posting a 586, beating his teammate,
Gavin Barnick, who rounded out the top-five with a 585 in smallbore. Gonzalez Mazo took seventh with a 585. Karasová took eighth with a 584 and Charles took ninth with a 584. Tobias Bernhoft-Osa took 14
th with a 568.Â

In air rifle, the Nanooks outshot Nebraska 2386-2378, posting a season-high air rifle score.Â

Rylan Kissell led the field in air rifle as he shot a 598. McAferty followed right behind with a 597 and second-place finish. Fiori came in third, posting a 596. Karasová rounded out the counting scores for the Nanooks with a 595 and fifth-place finish.
Gavin Barnick finished eighth after firing a 592. Charles took 10
th with a 592, Gonzalez Mazo took 12
th with a 591 and Bernhoft-Osa took 14
th with a 585.Â

These two teams meet again tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 13 at 8:00 a.m. AKT in the E.F. Horton Rifle Range in the Patty Center.Â
