PORTLAND, Ore. - The Alaska Nanooks had five players selected for the GNAC 2022 All-Academic Volleyball Team presented by Barnes & Noble College. Three were named for the second time and the final two were picked for the first time.
Student-athletes qualify for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team by maintaining a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.00 scale, they must be in their second season competing at their current institution and they must be a letterwinner during the current season.
The Alaska Nanooks were represented by
Marine Angely,
Kinley Erickson,
Karli Nielson,
Taylor Overn and
Rilee White. White was one of seven players named to the All-Academic Team with a 4.00 grade point average. White, a sophomore from Goodyear, Ariz. has maintained a perfect GPA through her first few years in Alaska while studying Biological Sciences. This was White's second GNAC All-Academic Team honor after earning her first in 2021.
Marine Angely and
Taylor Overn also join White on the team for the second time as they both earned their first honor during the 2021 season.
Angely, a senior from Sivry, France, is studying Business Administration and has maintained a 3.74 grade point average. Overn, a fellow senior, is from Portland, Ore. and the setter has earned a 3.55 grade point average while studying Biological Sciences.
Kinley Erickson and
Karli Nielson earned their first-ever GNAC All-Academic Team honors as the pair of sophomore were named to the team, rounding out the Nanooks' list of five. Erickson, a sophomore libero from North Pole, Alaska, is studying communications. Through her first two years at the university, she has maintained a 3.79 grade point average.
Finally, Nielson, a sophomore from South Weber, Utah, has also maintained a 3.79 grade point average since joining the Nanooks. She is currently studying Justice.
