SUN VALLEY, Idaho – The Alaska Nanooks ski team had a stellar day one at the Montana State Invitational in Sun Valley, Idaho. The women's team tallied 77 team points while the men picked up 63. Alaska is in second place after day one of the Nordic races.Â

In the women's 5k at the Lake Creek Ski Center,
Mariel Pulles was the top-finisher for Alaska. She finished fifth-place with a time of 16:12.6. That earned the Nanooks 29 points.
Kendall Kramer was the next finisher for Alaska, placing seventh-place with a time of 16:16.3 and earning 25 team-points. Just behind, for the last scoring finisher of the day for the Nanooks, was
Rosie Fordham. She picked up eighth with a time of 16:38.1 for 23 team points, rounding out the scoring for Alaska.Â

Rya Berrigan was the final Nanook to finish in the women's race, taking 30
th with a time of 18:58.7.

In the men's race, the Nanooks were led by freshman
Joe Davies, who placed fifth with a time of 27:48.8. That finish earned Alaska 29 points. The next finisher was
Mike Ophoff, taking home 14
th place in the men's 10k freestyle. He raced to a time of 28:25.7 for 19 points. The final scoring-racer for Alaska was
Christopher Kalev in 19
th-place with a time of 28:52.4.

Lukash Platil and
Patrick Marbacher were the final Nanooks to finish the race, placing 35
th and 39
th. Platil raced to a time of 30:53.8 and Marbacher raced to a time of 31:48.2.Â
