FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Cate Whiting, the senior setter for the Alaska Nanook volleyball team was named this week's GNAC Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week. This award comes after the Nanooks split their series at Northwest Nazarene.
Whiting boasted 75 assists, five kills, 25 digs, two aces and five blocks in the split with the Nighthawks. In their five-set win on Saturday, the Nanooks senior posted 50 assists and 16 digs, handing NNU their first home-loss of the season. Whiting now has 272 assists on the shortened-season, averaging 7.6 assists per set.
This is the Nanooks second GNAC Weekly Award this season after
Dani Dodge was named the Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago. Fairbanks is back in action on Apr. 16-17 when they host UAA at the Patty Center. Fans are not permitted; all live links and stats can be found on the Alaska Nanooks athletic website.
