GNAC Release
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanook volleyball team was well represented on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team presented by Barnes & Noble College. Six Nanook student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team, including three, three-time nominations.
To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Team, nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on their team and must be in their second year at the nominating institution.
Emily Moorhead,
Lahra Weber and
Cate Whiting were all selected for the third time. Moorhead, a senior from Chugiak, Alaska, has maintained a 3.59 GPA as a psychology major. Next in line for the three-timers is
Lahra Weber. Weber, a senior from Berlin, Germany, is a Chemistry major and has maintained a 3.94 GPA while in Fairbanks. Finally,
Cate Whiting, a senior from Rapid City, S.D. has compiled a 3.89 GPA while studying Civil Engineering.
Three other Nanooks were named to the 2020-21 GNAC Volleyball All-Academic Team. The first was
Zoey Keene, her second selection to the team. She is a junior from Anchorage, Alaska who is studying Biological Studies & Psychology. She has maintained a 3.55 GPA during her time in Fairbanks.
Markie Miller, a senior from Brewster, Wash., was named to the GNAC All-Academic Team with a 3.39 GPA while studying Elementary Education.
Finally,
Sophie Schilling, a sophomore from Berlin, Germany, was selected for the first time after maintaining a 3.97 GPA while studying Psychology.
