ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team fell to the Central Washington Wildcats on Thursday, Nov. 4. CWU took the win in straight sets, dropping Alaska to 14-12, 7-7 GNAC.
Central Washington outhit the Nanooks .412 to .200, tallying nine more kills through the three sets, 36-45. In the first set, Central outhit Alaska, 10-17 in the kills category and took the set-win, 18-25. This came behind a 61% sideout rate compared to Alaska's 44%. In the second, the Nanooks managed 12 kills, however it was not enough compared to Central's 17 and .483 hit percentage. In the third set, the Nanooks outhit Central 14-11, but it was not enough to extend the match to a fourth-set.
AveRee Reynolds led the way for the Nanooks with 10 kils.
Sophie Schilling added seven and two blocks.
Cate Whiting and
Dani Dodge led the Nanooks with eight digs, each. Whiting tallied 27 assists in the loss.
The Nanooks are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Northwest Nazarene.
