STATESBORO, Ga. – The Alaska Nanooks rifle team continued their hot-start to the season with a 4724-4613 victory. They shot a 2354 in the smallbore discipline and a 2370 in air. This win moves the Nanooks to 3-0 on the season. 
 
"We were really pleased with the effort we had from the team today." Said head coach 
Will Anti, "It was a long travel day with a short rest and a range they had never seen before. They had to be quite adaptable. We specifically built this match into our schedule to have some new and unexpected challenges and they worked through it nicely."
 
Daniel Enger was the high-scorer on the day, shooting his way to an aggregate-score of 1183 and the top-spot in the individual finishers. He was followed closely by 
Rylan Kissell and 
Kellen McAferty who shot 1182 and 1180 aggregate scores, respectively. 
Gavin Barnick and Sára Karasová finished off the top-five finishers with 1179 and 1176 aggregate scores. 
 
In smallbore, Enger led the way with a 589, edging out Barnick, who also shot a 589. Kissell brought home the third-place finish with a 588, McAferty posted a 588 and Karasová also shot a 588. On the day, the Nanooks, in the smallbore discipline, averaged a score of 588.5. In air, Enger was the top-shooter, once again, posting a score of 594. He took first over Kissell, who also added his own 594. McAferty took third with a 592 and Barnick grabbed fourth-place with a 590. Karasová was the next Nanook, placing seventh with a score of 588. 
 
"Daniel was one of the highlights today. He's been putting in a ton of work to gain consistency and confidence and today it all came together in both guns. He was really composed and mature throughout the performance. Gavin shot a brilliant smallbore match and some of the best standing I have seen. Overall, we were really proud of their resilience today. We are looking forward to the weekend's matches at the Citadel." Ended Anti. 
 
The Nanooks have an off-day on Friday, Oct. 29 as they travel to the Citadel for two matches over the weekend with the Bulldogs.
