UAF Release 

FAIRBANKS ­– Last Tuesday, the University of Alaska Fairbanks announced the students named to the deans' and chancellor's list for the fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters. The lists, which recognize students' outstanding academic achievements, featured 61 student-athletes from the 2019-20 season earning 87 academic honors.

According to the UAF release, students receiving a 3.9 grade point average or higher are placed on the chancellor's list, while those receiving a grade point average of between 3.5 and 3.9 are named to the deans' list.

Of the Nanooks' 61 honorees, 26 were recognized in both the fall 2019 and the spring 2020 semesters. Forty-three Nooks (23 on the deans' list, 20 on the chancellor's list) were recognized for their efforts in the fall, while 44 student-athletes (27 on the deans' list, 17 on the chancellor's list) were honored in the spring.

Each of Alaska's 10 varsity sports teams were represented throughout both semesters, with men's ice hockey leading the group with 20 student-athletes earning 27 honors. Volleyball ranked second with 10 student-athletes earning honors, followed by women's cross country running and Nordic skiing (7), men's cross country running and Nordic skiing (6), coed rifle (6), swimming (6), women's basketball (4) and men's basketball (2).
