RESULTS
FT. WORTH, TX. – The No. 14-ranked Alaska Nanook rifle team matched up against the No. 6-ranked Air Force Falcons today, Feb. 14, in Ft. Worth, TX. The Nanooks fell to the Falcons 4622-4666.
Three Nanooks placed in the top ten. Sophomore,
Kellen McAferty, led the Nanooks in the individual competition, firing an 1159 and placing fifth overall. Senior,
Grace Nelson, followed one point behind McAferty, recording an 1158 aggregate and placing sixth. Junior,
Jessica Boyce, claimed seventh firing an 1155.
In the smallbore competition, the Nanooks posted a team score of 2291 placing them only 16 points behind the Falcons' 2307.
McAferty took second in the individual smallbore standings, recording a 579. Senior,
Amy Gentry, had a strong showing in smallbore, firing a 576 and claiming sixth. Nelson claimed eighth with a 570.
In the air rifle competition, the Nanooks tallied a 2331, falling to the Falcons' 2359.
Boyce led the Nanooks in the air rifle competition with a 589, securing the third-place spot. Nelson followed one point behind with a 588, placing fourth. McAferty claimed tenth with a 580.
The Nanooks will be back in action tomorrow (Feb. 15) for the first day of the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships hosted by Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas.
