MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Alaska Nanooks cross country running teams battled the elements at Western Oregon this Friday, Sept. 20 at the Sundowner Invite. The men's team totaled 235 points which put them in 9
thplace. As for the women, they tallied 257 points and were the 10
th place finishers.
The women, who ran the first of the two races, ran a 6km race. Alexandria Bergholtz was the first Nanook racer to cross the finish line coming in 12
th place with a time of 23:20.0. Unfortunately for the Nanooks they had no close finishers to Bergholtz.
Noelle Resignolo was the next best finisher at 66
th place with a time of 25:23.1.
Right behind Resignolo was
Rya Berrigan at 25:23.3 for a 67
th place finish.
Sarah Olson came in at 78
th and 25:48.9 and the final Nanook, Maggie H. Meeds came in at 101
st and a time of 30:33.4. Meeds was battling food poisoning the morning leading to the race, so for team points and placement purposes, she battled through until the finish line.
The men sent six runners on to the course but only five were able to finish.
Lukash Platil was the leader for the men finishing 21
st with a time of 25:32.9.
Jacob Walsh pushed through the line at 26:17.5, good enough for 44
th place and
Zephan Ozturgut followed him at 65
th and a time of 27:04.7.
Jack Matherly and
Josiah Alverts came through the finish to end the Nanooks day with Matherly claiming 79
thplace and Alverts finsishing close behind at 82
nd place.
Nathan Sanches for the Nanooks was the only runner that received a DNF.

The Nanooks come home for a week before heading to their final meet before the GNAC Championships. On Oct. 5 the 'Nooks head to Salem, Ore. for the Charles Bowles Invite.
