STOWE, Vt. – After almost a two week hiatus, four Alaska Nanooks hit the trails for the 2019 NCAA Skiing National Championships this Wednesday, Mar. 6 and Friday, Mar. 8 at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. After participating in the NCAA West Region Championships and the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships in Anchorage two weeks ago, the Nooks qualified two men and two women for the national championships.

Team Scoring
The 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships combine scores from both alpine and Nordic skiing. Unfortunately, the Alaska Nanooks do not sponsor an alpine skiing team, which means they will not be able to win the overall team national championship title since they cannot catch up in the point standings to programs that qualified a full alpine and Nordic team (three men and three women for alpine, three men and three women for Nordic, which equals 12 skiing scores over four days of competition). Since the Nooks didn't qualify a full women's Nordic and full men's Nordic teams, they will not be eligible to earn a Nordic team championship title either.
All-American Status
The Alaska Nanooks have a chance to become All-Americans this weekend, as the qualification for becoming one is to finish in the top-10 overall in either the classic or the freestyle races. Former Nanook
Sarissa Lammers is the most recent All-American, being named a Second team All-American after placing eighth in the 15km mass-start freestyle race in the 2017 championships.
