Nighthawks Best @NanooksWBB in Season Finale

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team dropped their final game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 98-58 to the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest at the Alaska Airlines Court. Alaska concludes the season with an overall record of 4-22 and 1-19 in GNAC play, while the Nighthawks move on to the postseason with a 26-2 record on the year and 18-2 in conference contests.

Coach's Comments
"I'm extremely proud of our seniors for who they are and the example they have set for future Nanooks. Ashlie, Emily, Angela and Marian will be missed on and off the court. This was a great first year having the chance to work with a group of young women who all worked hard and were such a cohesive unit." – head coach Kerri Nakamoto said on Saturday.

  • Wamsley also tallied a team-best six rebounds, while also chipping in one assist in 31 minutes of play.
  • Senior guard Emily Evans and senior forward Ashlie Blackburn followed Wamsley's lead, each registering 13 points against the Nighthawks.
  • Redshirt-junior guard Sabrina Ungaro led all players with a game-high nine assists.
Senior Day
Saturday's game also honored the 2019 Alaska women's basketball senior class, with the Alaska Nanooks saying farewell to #11 Ashlie Blackburn, #22 Emily Evans, #12 Angela Murnion and #44 Marian Wamsley.
