FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team will split the week between being at home and on the road this week, as they take on in-state rival Alaska Anchorage on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Alaska Airlines Court before taking on Montana State University Billings at the Alterowitz Gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 7. Tip-off on Tuesday is set for 7pm AKST, while Thursday is slated for 5pm AKST.

Last Time Out
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team fell on the road last week, dropping a 85-48 decision against Simon Fraser on Thursday before falling 66-36 to Western Washington on Saturday. The pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference losses extends Alaska's losing streak to 15 games.

The Nooks sit in 11th place in the GNAC standings with a 0-12 conference mark. Alaska's upcoming opponents, Alaska Anchorage (11-1 GNAC) and MSUB (5-7 GNAC), currently rank tied for first and tied for seventh place in the league standings, respectively.

The first meeting between the two programs resulted in a 50-40 victory for the Nanooks at home on Nov. 21, 1974. Alaska is currently riding a 23-game losing streak with their last win coming on Jan. 27, 2007 (85-83). In their last meeting on Jan. 12, the Nanooks fell 81-70 in Anchorage.
All-time against the Yellowjackets, the Nanooks trail the series 14-53 with their first meeting coming as a 68-57 win on Mar. 10, 1978. Alaska is currently riding a three-game losing streak to the Yellowjackets, with their last win coming on Jan. 28, 2017 (66-42). In their last meeting on Jan. 12, the Nanooks fell 80-72 at home.
Scouting the Opponent – Alaska Anchorage (19-1, 11-1 GNAC)
The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves sit tied for first in the GNAC standings with an 11-1 mark in conference play and are currently on a 12-game winning streak. UAA leads the league in scoring defense (56.8/game), three-point field goal defense (.286), rebounding defense (32.1/game), assists (18.5/game), steals (15.0/game), turnover margin (+8.90) and assists/turnover ratio (1.2). UAA's Hannah Wandersee currently leads the Seawolves in scoring with a 14.8 points per game average.
Scouting the Opponent – Montana State Billings (9-9, 5-7 GNAC)
The Yellowjackets are coming off of a split last week, falling 74-79 to Seattle Pacific on Thursday before defeating Saint Martin's 76-69 on Saturday. Four Yellowjackets currently average double-digit figures per game and are led by Hannah Collins, who averages 16.1 points per game to lead her teammates.
