FISHHOOK, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's Nordic ski teams continued racing in day two of the 16
th Annual Nordic Cup against in-state rival UAA.
The Seawolves won day two with lower top-three combined times in both men's 15km classic and women's 10km classic. Anchorage won the men's 15km with a combined time of 1:54:52.5, defeating Alaska's combined time of 1:56:43.0. UAA won the women's 10km with a combined time of 1:45:01.2, beating out the Nanooks time of 1:48:57.1.
In the women's event, Mariel Pulles finished first for Alaska and third overall with a time of 35:25.5. Behind her,
Anja Maijala finished second for the Nanooks and sixth overall with a time of 36:19.7.
In the men's event, Mike Ophoff finished first for the 'Nooks and fourth overall with a time of 38:15.8. The team's next finisher,
Logan Mowry, finished sixth overall with a time of 38:53.0.
The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's Nordic ski teams will be back in action on Jan. 2-7, heading down to Houghton, Michigan to race in the U.S. Cross Country Skiing National Championships.
