FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team was well represented as the GNAC announced their 2019 All-GNAC Teams.
AveRee Reynolds was the first Nanook to make an appearance on the list, being named the 2019 GNAC Newcomer of the Year after spending the past two years at Eastern Arizona College. Reynolds was named the Newcomer of the Year after totaling 229 kills on 636 total attacks, recording a .219 hit percentage. Reynolds on the defensive end collected 28 digs and had 68.0 total blocks for a season total 266.0 points.
Cate Whiting was chosen to First Team All-GNAC for the second year in a row. Whiting was named to the team following a season with 905 assists, 90 kills and 164.5 points. Cate collected 36 service aces, 273 digs and totaled 73.0 total blocks on the season. This is the second-consecutive year Whiting has been named to First Team All-GNAC.
AveRee Reynolds made another appearance on the list as she was selected for Honorable Mention as well.
Behind Reynolds from Alaska was
Lahra Weber. The junior from Berlin, Germany made her second All-GNAC team after being selected to the First Team in 2017 as a freshman. Weber was selected after she put up 261 kills, a .167 hit percentage, 228 digs and 29.0 total blocks.
Kim Wong was the final Nanook selected to the list, being selected to the Honorable Mention list for the third-straight year. The senior from Spokane, Wash. ended her career with 226 kills, 33 digs, 94.0 total blocks and 280.5 points in the 2019 season.
