FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks athletic department has released their five-year plan, introducing the "Nanook Way". Nanooks' Athletic Director,
Dr. Keith Champagne made this announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to the department.
The main goal for the "Nanook Way" is to drive success in both athletics and academics, while bringing together both in one community. Vision, purpose, core values, being internally and externally focused are the main outlines for students and faculty to follow the "Nanook Way". Through these five objectives, the Alaska Nanooks athletic department is looking at how to advance their services from good to great.
AD,
Dr. Keith Champagne had this to say about the process put in place, "The 'Nanook Way' provides UAF and Alaska athletics with a glide plan and path for the next five years for moving athletics from good to great, allowing us to create a 21st century integrated and successful intercollegiate athletics program."
Through the coming years, the Alaska athletics department will create an environment that fits the needs of all student-athletes on the UAF campus. Executive Senior Associate Director and SWA,
Terlynn Olds echoed a lot of what Dr. Champagne had to say, "This plan is our guide to going good to great. We look at a lot of other institutions that are a similar size of ours and we know we are good, but as we continue, we also look to differentiate ourselves from the pack to become great. This is our check-list for the next five years and I'm excited to see the growth."
