FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team continues to hunt for their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference win of the season this week, hitting the road for a pair of conference matchups. The Nanooks will take on the Concordia Cavaliers on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 4:15pm AKST before taking on the Western Oregon Wolves on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 1pm AKST.

If fans aren't able to make this week's games in Portland and Monmouth, both Thursday and Saturday's games, along with every home and conference game for the remainder of the season, will be broadcasted live through the Alaska Nanooks Stretch Internet Portal in the link posted above. Last Time Out
The Nanooks faced two tough opponents last weekend, falling to in-state rival Alaska Anchorage 81-70 in Anchorage on Tuesday before dropping Saturday's game against Montana State Billings 80-72 in Fairbanks.
GNAC Standings
Alaska sits in 11th place in the GNAC standings with an 0-6 conference mark. Alaska's upcoming opponents, Concordia (1-5) and Western Oregon (2-4), sit tied for eighth place and ninth place, respectively. Northwest Nazarene remains in first place with a perfect 7-0 mark in league games.

The Alaska Nanooks are 3-5 all-time against the Concordia Cavaliers, with the first meeting between the two teams resulting in an 82-66 loss for the Nanooks at home on Feb. 4, 1983. The Nanooks are currently riding a three-game losing streak to the Cavaliers, with their last win coming on Jan. 5, 2017 (79-74) on the road. In their last meeting, Alaska fell 66-64 at home on Feb. 10, 2018.
The Nanooks trail the all-time series against the Western Oregon Wolves, 19-29. In their first meeting on Jan. 17, 1977, Alaska fell 68-65 on the road to the Wolves. The Nanooks are currently riding a two-game losing streak to the Wolves, with their last win coming as a 79-65 decision at home on Feb. 2, 2017. In their last meeting, Alaska fell 76-49 on Feb. 8, 2018 on the road.
Scouting the Opponent – Concordia (6-8, 1-5 GNAC)
Concordia split its first road trip of the month last week, topping Western Washington 70-62 before falling at Simon Fraser two days later. Guard Olivia Vezaldenos shined in the victory, leading all scorers with 28 points. Vezaldenos currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game through 10 weeks of play.
Scouting the Opponent – Western Oregon (5-7, 2-4 GNAC)
Western Oregon was in action twice last week, tipping off the week with a 69-65 victory across the border at Simon Fraser before dropping a hard fought game against Western Washington on Saturday. The play of forward Natalie DeLonge helped the Wolves win in Burnaby, as she recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. DeLonge leads Western Oregon with an average of 12.8 points per game.
