@NanooksVB Hits the Road to Face Seawolves, Yellowjackets

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team will hit the road for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches this week, as they look to bounce back from last week's losses. The Nooks will face in-state rival Alaska Anchorage at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7pm AKT before traveling to Montana to take on the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 12pm AKT.

Where to Watch & Listen
If fans aren't able to make this week's games in Anchorage or Billings, all Alaska Nanooks volleyball games for the remainder of the season (home and away) will be streamed live for free through the Alaska Nanooks Stretch Internet Portal in the link posted above. Fans have the option to watch the stream, follow the live stats or both. Please be advised that when on the road, Alaska volleyball games are produced and streamed through the respective home school.

Last Time Out
The Nooks opened conference play at home last week, falling in their home opener on Thursday to Central Washington, who currently sits tied for first in the GNAC standings. In Saturday's matchup, the Nooks fell in a tough battle to Northwest Nazarene 3-1 to drop their overall record to 2-7.

GNAC Standings
Alaska is currently tied for ninth in the GNAC rankings with Saint Martin's and Montana State Billings, each with an 0-2 conference record. Central Washington, Concordia and Western Washington all sit tied for first in the league standings with a 2-0 GNAC mark, while the remaining five teams are tied for fourth place with a 1-1 league record.

Four Nanooks rank within the top-10 individually in the GNAC in five different categories: All-Time Series
All-time against the Seawolves, Alaska is 37-72 with the first meeting between the two teams coming as a 3-0 win for the Nooks in 1979. Alaska is currently on a 15-game losing streak to UAA, with the Nanooks' last win coming on Sept. 18, 2010 in Anchorage. In their last meeting on Nov. 14, 2017, Alaska went 1-3 against UAA on the road.

The Nanooks are currently 27-29 all-time against the MSUB Yellowjackets with the first meeting coming as a 3-0 win for Alaska on the road on Oct. 28, 1984. In their last meeting on Nov. 18, 2017, Alaska defeated the Yellowjackets 3-2 at home to break an eight-game losing streak that dated back to the 2013 season.
