NAMPA, Idaho – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team concluded the 2017-18 season on Saturday afternoon, as the Nanooks fell 89-66 to the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at the Johnson Sports Center.
Alaska finishes the 2017-18 season with an overall record 4-22 and 0-20 in conference play under first-year head coach
Brett Sawyer. The Nighthawks advance to the postseason with a record of 22-3 on the year and 18-2 in league games.
As a team, Alaska shot 38.3 percent from the floor (23-for-60), 12.5 percent from beyond the arc (3-for-24) and 85 percent from the free throw line (17-for-20). The Nanooks also picked up nine offensive and 20 defensive boards for 29 rebounds total, 10 assists, four steals and three blocks.
The Nanooks picked up 28 points in the paint, 25 points off of the bench,15 points off of turnovers and 10 points off of second-chances.
Junior guard
Emily Evans and sophomore guard
Kylie Wallace tied for a team-high 12 points, being two of three Nanooks that scored double-digit figures. Wallace shot 4-for-5 from the field and 4-for-6 from the free throw line, while also chipping in four rebounds in 18 minutes on the court.
Evans shot 4-for-13 from the floor, including 2-for-10 from three-point range and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Evans also chipped in a game-high five assists in 31 minutes on the floor.
Sophomore guard
Lexi Carpenter was the only other Alaska player to score double-digit figures, shooting 5-for-16 from the field and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc in a game-high 36 minutes on the court.
