Nikolas Koberstein Ā representing the Alaska Nanooks hockey team this week Ā in San Jose and Montreal, respectively.
Frye will appear in in the Ā San Jose Sharks' development camp from July 3-7 at the Solar4America Ice Arena located in San Jose, Calif. The camp marks the Spokane, Washington native's second-ever NHL development camp after he participated in the Boston Bruins' prospect camp in the summer of 2015. Frye is one of 11 defensemen attending the Sharks' camp and one of 12 skaters who played in the NCAA last season.
Last season, Frye was one of three Nanooks to appear in all 36 games last season and ranked second on the team in scoring with 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists). An alternate captain last season, Frye led Alaska hockey in assists (15), assists per games played (0.42), power play goals (4), power play assists (6), power play points (10), shots on goal (103), shots on goal per games played (2.68) and blocks (60).
Koberstein concludes his fourth-straight NHL development camp with the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday after being selected in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft in the summer of 2014. The camp, which ran July 2-5 at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, Quebec, comprised of 42 players, including 23 forwards, 15 defensemen and four goaltenders. The Barrhead, Alberta native was one of 14 skaters who played collegiately throughout the 2016-17 regular season.
Koberstein appeared in 31 games for the Nanooks last winter, tallying two goals and four assists for a career-high six points.
