ANCHORAGE, Alaska –
The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's Nordic ski teams completed their final day of competition in the Seawolf Invitational, racing in the mixed gender 4x5km classic relay at the Girdwood Nordic Trails on Wednesday. Wednesday's relay, along with Tuesday's freestyle sprint, both counted toward the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association rankings.

The mixed gender 4x5km relay consists of four legs, switching from male-female-male-female, each racer skiing one-5km lap. Only the top-two relay squads from each team counted toward the RMISA rankings and no teams with skiers from more than one school counted in the scoring.

Alaska's top team of redshirt-junior Jan Cech, junior Sarissa Lammers, redshirt-senior Michael Fehrenbach and junior Ann-Cathrin Uhl placed sixth overall with a total team time of 1:00:17.2 to collect 68 team points.

Fehrenbach's 5km lap was the quickest of the foursome, recording a 13:37.9. Cech posted the second-fastest lap time with a 14:28.2, followed by Uhl (15:51.7) and then Lammers (16:19.5).

Alaska's second relay team featuring redshirt-sophomore Nick Lovett, senior Hannah Rowland, junior Alexander Eckert and freshman Anna Darnell finished 17th overall with a total time of 1:05:50.7, collecting 41 team points.

Eckert recorded the fastest 5km time for his relay team with a 14:25.1, followed by Lovett (15:24.6), Rowland (17:59.4) and Darnell (18:24.2).

Four other Alaska Nanooks were also in action in the mixed gender relay, including a mixed team of junior Seiji Takagi (15:24.1), senior Anne-Tine Markset (17:41.0), freshman Max Donaldson (13:41.9) and UAA's Sadie Fox (16:53.3).

Sophomore Tristan Sayre also competed on Wednesday, joining a Montana State University team that placed 11th overall and finished with a total team time of 1:03:15.3.

The Alaska Nanooks will take a two-day break before competing in the two-day UAA Invitational Feb. 11-12 at Kincaid Park in Anchorage. Saturday's race will feature the men's and women's 10/5km classic starting at 10am AKST.
