Crusaders Defeat @NanooksWBB 93-60

NAMPA, Idaho – Senior forward Jordan Wilson tallied a game-high 26 points, but it wasn't enough for the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team to overtake the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders, as NNU defeated the Nooks 93-60 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference Contest at the Johnson Sports Center on Saturday morning.

The Nanooks' overall record drops to 11-12 and 7-9 in conference contests, while the Crusaders improve to 9-13 overall and 7-9 in GNAC play.

Wilson shot 9-of-20 from the floor and converted on 8-of-11 free throws to post a 26-point game, her 15th game of scoring 20-or-more points this season. Wilson also chipped in a team-high seven rebounds, five of which were offensive, a team-high four steals, one block and one assist.

Senior forward Kaillee Skjold was the only other Nanook to score double-digit figures on Saturday, shooting 4-of-7 from the field, 1-of-1 from three-point range and 1-of-2 from the free throw line to record 10 points. The Kasilof, Alaska native also added two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Senior guard Gabriela Jimenez posted a team-high four assists.

In total, Alaska shot 39.6 percent from the floor (19-of-48), 23.1 percent from behind the arc (3-of-13) and 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the free throw line. The Nooks registered 24 points in the paint, 18 points off of turnovers and eight points off the bench. Alaska also tallied 12 steals and 14 assists.

Northwest Nazarene was led offensively by McKenna Walker, who shot 5-of-11 from the floor, 4-of-4 from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free throw line to post a team-high of 17 points. A trio of Crusaders also recorded double-digit figures.

The Crusaders shot 54.5 percent from the floor (36-of-66), 66.7 percent from behind the three-point line (14-of-21) and 87.5 percent from the free throw line (7-of-8). NNU posted a game-high 42 rebounds, including 17 offensive rebounds.

The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team will return home next week, hosting the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Thursday, Feb. 16 before facing the Saint Martin's Saints on Saturday, February 18. Tip-off Thursday is slated for 7pm AKST, while Saturday's Senior Night contest is scheduled for 2pm AKST.
