Box Score 2 FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team got its final tune-up before the 2017-18 regular season on Friday night, as Gold defeated Blue 45-30 in an intersquad scrimmage at the Alaska Airlines Court.
Junior
Angela Murnion turned in a 15-point effort to lead her teammates on Friday night, as the Grass Range, Montana native shot 5-of-11 to help her team post a 37.5 shooting percentage for the game. Murnion also registered eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in her 40 minutes on the court.
Sophomore
Lexi Carpenter was the only other Nanook to register double-digit points on Friday night, as the Yakima, Washington native also shot 5-of-11 on the night, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc for 12 points. Carpenter registered a game-high four assists while also chipping in three assists and two steals.
The Blue team was led by sophomore
Kylie Wallace who tallied nine points against the Gold team, shooting 4-for-15 on the court. Like Murnion, Wallace tied for a game-high eight rebounds.
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team officially opens the 2017-18 season with the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Crossover Nov. 10-11 with a two-game homestead against the University of Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans at the Alaska Airlines Court. Friday, Nov. 10's game is scheduled for 7pm AKT while Saturday's game is slated for 2pm AKT.

Men's Basketball
The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team also played their Blue vs. Gold game on Friday night but competed in two, 20-minute games with players switching between teams throughout the scrimmage's entirety.
On the night, sophomore
Michael Kluting and junior
Alex Baham tied for a team-high 15 points from their efforts on both the Blue and Gold team. Junior
Davis Kimble tallied a team-high seven rebounds while also registering a team-best six assists.
The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team will travel to Las Vegas next week to take on the University of Nevada at Las Vegas Rebels in an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 3. Tip-off versus the NCAA Division I opponent is scheduled for 6pm AKT.
