FAIRBANKS, Alaska –
The No. 5 Alaska Nanooks coed rifle team won their third-straight match on Sunday afternoon, defeating the No. 6th-ranked Air Force Falcons 4684-4663 at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range at the Patty Center. Alaska redshirt-senior and co-captain Sagen Maddalena was once again the highest-scoring shooter on the day.

"Today went great, everyone dug deep and worked hard through their exhaustion to perform really well," head coach Layne Lewis said on Sunday. "I wasn't sure how the team would handle three matches back-to-back-to-back but they showed me today that they are match-ready and they can step up their game when called upon. This is going to be a very exciting season with the depth this team has and it keeps growing with each match."

Maddalena, who posted an Alaska rifle program record for an individual aggregate total on Saturday, kept her momentum rolling against the Falcons, as she tallied an aggregate score of 1182 – a full 14 points ahead second place. The Groveland, Calif. native placed first overall in smallbore (586) and air rifle (596).

Not to be overshadowed, three Nanooks set five personal-bests on Sunday, led by redshirt-junior Robert Scott, who shot a career-best air rifle score of 595 and tied his career-best aggregate score of 1168 to tie for second overall individually. Also registering an aggregate total of 1168 to place second was junior JT Schnering and Air Force's Anna Weilbacher.

Sophomore Amy Gentry recorded a career-best air rifle score of 590, while freshman Haley Castillo recorded a new personal-best in smallbore with a 576 and tied her career-best aggregate score of 1160.

Also of note, senior Luke Johnson tied for fifth individually with an aggregate tally of 1166, while freshman Spencer Jacobs (1163) and Castillo (1160) also cracked the top-10 individually.

The Alaska Nanooks will take a break from competition, returning to the range on Friday, Nov. 17 at the University of Texas at El Paso for a head-to-head match at the UTEP Rifle Range in El Paso.
