FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team returns home for a two Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches on Thursday, Oct. 6 against Concordia University and Saturday, Oct. 8 against the Western Oregon Wolves. Both games begin at 7 p.m. AKT and will take place at the Alaska Airlines Court at the Patty Center.

If fans aren't able to make Friday's game, all Alaska Nanooks volleyball games (home and awa) are streamed live for free through the Alaska Nanooks Stretch Internet Portal. Fans have the option to watch the stream, follow the live stats or both.
Last Time Out
The Nanooks were handed a tough, three-set loss last Friday, Sept. 30 to Montana State Billings on the road, which ties the Nanooks and the Yellowjackets for last place in the conference (both teams are 1-5 in conference play). Earlier last week (Sept. 27), the Nanooks fell to the top-ranked Alaska Anchorage Seawolves in three sets, which puts the Nanooks on a five-game losing streak.
Wong to be Right
Freshman middle blocker Kim Wong led the Alaska Nanooks against Alaska Anchorage with seven kills and three blocks. Wong ranks second on the team in solo blocks (five), block assists (32), total blocks (37.0) and block per sets (0.74).
Davis Strikes Again
Junior outside hitter Maddie Davis led the Nanooks offense against Montana State Billings last Friday, recording seven kills and seven digs. Davis has been instrumental this season on the front and back lines for the Nanooks, as the Puyallup, Washington native has already recorded two double-doubles this season, both in kills and digs.
Dish to Assist
Last week's games added two more 20-or-more assist performances for junior setter Rachel Nichols. The Riverton, Utah native had 22 assists against Alaska Anchorage and finished with 26 assists, seven digs and two blocks against Montana State Billings. Nichols enters this weekend's games ranked seventh in the GNAC, averaging 9.20 assists per set.
Team Stats
The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team enters this week's GNAC contests with a.162 hitting percentage, averaging 11.08 kills per set, 10.48 assists per set and 1.64 blocks per set. Alaska ranks third in the GNAC in service aces, averaging 1.70 per set. Junior middle blocker Riley Podowicz sits seventh in the conference with an average of 0.40 service aces per set.
