Trailing 56-54 with eight seconds remaining, Mays drove down the lane and drew contact just as she released an underhand shot. The Hardesty, Oklahoma native drilled the and-one free throw and gave her team a one-point lead at 57-56.
Jordan Wilson drew a charge on the next possession for Seattle Pacific, and hit one-of-two free throws to seal the 58-56 victory to give Alaska its first win over SPU in 14 years.

Bench Talk
"We really want to be ready defensively. We understand they have a lot of offensive power and a lot of height, but we want to be able to slow the game down if we can, and make sure that no matter what they do, we're making it as hard as possible on them. They have so many weapons offensively, but we have to be able to play rock solid defense against them. We need to make sure we play with a lot of confidence and handle their pressure." – Head coach Cody Bench on playing Alaska Anchorage.
